Carney Island Recreation and Conservation Area
13275 SE 115th Ave, Ocklawaha, FL 32179
This is the first year that the race will take place at the Carney Island Recreation and Conservation Area in Ocklawaha, FL. The trail is an unpaved, well-groomed service road for park attendants. It meanders through classic Florida woods and meadows alongside swamp areas. There are views of Lake Weir along the southern portion and majestic live oaks grace the meadow areas.
Benefits
Marion County is home to Silver Springs, one of the world’s largest & most famous artesian springs, along with Rainbow Springs & Silver Glen. Our natural lakes, rivers, & springs make Marion County a beautifully unique place to live, work and play. Because we use this same water for drinking and other daily activities, we all play a role in keeping our water clean.
All proceeds from the Run for the Springs 5K are available to Marion County residents in the form of septic maintenance reimbursement grants.
